This beautiful work hand-stitched by Doreen Kabasomi, Threads of Blessing artist, offers an intimate look at love and faith within a family.  The work measures 10.5 x 17 inches. Parents with eyes closed and hands clasped, kneel and pray over their two sleeping children. Doreen uses so many elements to set the scene. A beautiful patchwork quilt covered in brightly stitched sunflowers covers the children. Above them hangs a picture honoring the Threads of Blessing ministry. Conveying a sense of quiet and calm, everyone in the scene is still. The work reads like a painting expressed through Doreen's deliberate choice of color highlighting the smallest details. The rich and subtle color change in the mother's clothing, the pattern on the man's shirt, and the changes in skin tone, even on the small faces of the children.

Doreen offers this powerful insight on the impact Threads of Blessing has had on her life and her family.

“Threads of Blessing has not only been a blessing to me but also to my family.  I learned about this great group when I went for counseling for breast cancer.  I am a survivor.  When I joined, I was lost, confused, and didn’t know my next step because of the cancer.  The treatment was long, so I lost my job, and my husband deserted me because he couldn’t accept a woman with no breast.

"Threads of Blessing has really empowered me emotionally and spiritually. My health has greatly improved. I can now support my children. I have bought land and sheep and built a house, and I can be useful to my community.

"Thank you, Threads of Blessing.  You have given me and my children a second chance in life.”
