This beautiful tapestry hand-stitched by Abisagi, offers a glimpse of life in Goli, Uganda.  The work measures 12" x 9" and highlights  family life, the region's traditional, round thatched homes, and an agrarian lifestyle.

Abisagi is part of the retired Archbishop Henry and Mama Phoebe Orombi household.  She lives in a village called Goli in the district of Nebbi in northwest Uganda.  Nebbi borders Lake Albert to the south, the River Nile to the east, and the Congo to the west. Her life revolves around caring for her family and crops, and assisting Mama Phoebe.

She will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children, medical support for herself and her family, seeds or fertilizer for her crops, and provide for any orphans for whom she cares as a result of HIV/AIDS or other illnesses.

Abisagi meets weekly with her fellow needleworkers.  The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly raised their self-esteem.
